Meet the creative team

Iman Aoun

Artistic Director

 

Co-founder of ASHTAR Theatre in 1991. An award winning actress, acted and directed many plays for Palestinian and international theatres; received various notifications for her work from different countries; wrote and published various articles on Palestinian Theatre. An internationally known trainer specialized in "Theatre of the Oppressed' techniques.

Initiator of the Euro-Palestinian project “100 Artists for Palestine” in 2003; “The Gaza Mono-Logues” in 2010; "The Syrian Monologues" in 2015. Coordinator of "One Billion Rising" Campains in Palestine since  2014.

Ali Abu Yasine

Trainer - Director 

 

Started working in theatre since 1990. He began his theatre studies with ASHTAR Theatre in 1992 and resumed his study and work at Theater's Days Production for 6 years. He has been working as a trainer and director for ASHTAR Theatre since 2008. He presented dozens of theatrical works as a writer, director and actor. He starred in several theatrical and television programs.

Participated in many Arab and international festivals and won the prize for the best actor from the International Spring Festival in Tunisia for the play “Abu Arab”.

Wael Afaneh
Coordinator

 

He started working at AHSTAR Theater as a coordinator in 2010 with The Gaza Monologues. Coordinated and facilitated various activities of ASHTAR Theatre in Gaza that included production of plays, training of young actors and stress release programs at schools. Worked in managerial jobs in many governmental and non-government organizations and as a translator and as administrator.

 

Ramallah Team

Mohammad Eid

Trainer - Director

 

Studied acting at ASHTAR Theatre from 1996 and graduated in 1999 and in Tunisia in 2003 and 2004 at Al Hamra Theatre in addition to various other workshops. He started working at ASHTAR Theatre in 2003, as actor and drama trainer. Currently, he is a full time actor, director and drama trainer at ASHTAR Theatre, and a leader of several Forum Theatre workshops.

Bayan Shbib

Trainer - Director

 

Holds an MA Degree from East 15 Acting School University of Essex-UK. She participated in various productions at ASHTAR Theatre. She had written and played “Safad Shatilla-vice versa” and won best

actress award for the role in 2006, from the Cairo International Experimental Theatre Festival. She also participated in writing and directing a number of youth and professional plays. She played a lead role in the National TV comedy show Scotchat. Worked as a lecturer at Birzeit University, and at the International Art Academy in Palestine.
